O’Loughlin Gaels -0-11 to 1-8 James Stephens
Sunday Sept. 18th 2016 - Palmerstown, 6pm – Referee Maurice Flynn
O’Loughlins/ Village games are always entertaining and this one was certainly no different. The scoring may have been low but that was down to the intensity of the game and some wayward shots by both teams. James Stephens got off to the better start when they went 1-2 to no score up after 6 mins thanks to a Jamie Byrne goal plus a pointed free. Brian Dowling did return a pointed free next before James Stephens added another…the last of their scoring for nearly 20 minutes. O’Loughlins added their points thanks to good midfield work with Paddy Butler enjoying his time there converting two points from play before the break leaving O’Loughlin’s one point adrift at 0-6 to 1-4. The score count was even more rare in the second half but a good entertaining game none the less. Alan Geoghegan , Danny Lenihan and Paddy Butler played well to take hold of their areas and it looked with 10mins to go, after the aforementioned Lenihan scored his second point, that O’Loughlins were in the driving seat two points to the good. But they failed to capitalise on their dominance and James Stephens took a well taken point through Richie Hayes before adding a final pointed free to level the game ensuring both sets of supporters left Palmerstown in good form and ready to go at it again. Well done all ..good hurling.
